Enneagram Unconscious Childhood Messages

The Unconscious Childhood Messages are an area of the Enneagram where healing and growth can take place. Once we become aware of our internalized narratives, we can identify areas in our lives where they may be hindering us from emotional and relational health. If you haven’t before, take some time to pause and reflect with these questions, journal or talk to a friend about them. It may be helpful to work through this in a therapy or spiritual direction setting.

Journaling Prompts for Growth and Reflection

Does the unconscious childhood message for your type resonate with you? Or, if you are unsure of your type, which message resonates with you?

How has this message informed your actions/relationships etc. in the past? How is it influencing you in the present?

Once we acknowledge the unconscious childhood message, we can work on healing it. What is an affirmation or truth you can remind yourself of this week? For example: My needs are worthy of acknowledging and being met.
